ICT Policy Formulation and Development Strategy
1. COURSE OVERVIEW
The impact and role of information and communication technology (ICT) within organizations has developed over the years towards a major strategic issue. ICT enables organization not only to do things more efficiently, but also to do things in a completely different way or to reshape the complete scope of the business itself. This course aims at providing a deeper understanding of these strategic issues. The course emphasizes on the organizational, managerial and strategic approach to ICT, and the relationship with the overall strategy of an organization. The course also focuses on management tools that support information planning and the most important technological developments.
This objective of this course is to understand these strategic issues and to be able to translate them into a strategic information plan. The course emphasizes the relationship between the business strategy and the ICT Strategy of an organization, the management tools that support the information planning process and the most important technological developments. Each student will develop a Strategic Information Plan for an organization of his/her choice, to get a better understanding of the practical application of the
theory presented in the lectures. This is also the individual assignment that will be graded.
2. COURSE OBJECTIVES At the end of the training, itshall:
- Understand the process and products of information planning and their relationship with the overall strategy of an organization
- Understand the specific role and goals of an enterprise architecture
- Equip you with knowledge of strategic management of ICT
- Enable you to appreciate the organizational and management issues relating to ICT planning and implementation and relate this to other relevant courses in your program
- Be able to develop, implement and evaluate the ICT strategy and provide necessary advice to management
- Broaden your understanding of the role of ICT in organizations and how you can maximize your contribution to an organization – in turn assist to convert you into a more competent ICT professional
